Brian Newton
Senior Platform Engineer
Brian Newton is a Senior Platform Engineer for Straight Arrow News. Brian’s journey from the suburbs of Marietta, Georgia to Mountain View California has been an interesting ride, complete with a few inevitable reboots. After earning a BS in Sociology from the University of Georgia, Brian launched his tech career racking servers and building storage area networks.
Realizing his true calling might involve fewer screwdrivers and more programming, he went back to college to pursue a master’s degree in computer science. After a few scrappy startups, he landed at Turner. Since then, Brian’s path has led him through the early days of DevOps to the emerging field of Platform Engineering.
After an 8-year stint in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Brian packed up the family and landed in Mountain View, California. When Brian is not working on building tooling to help make engineers’ lives better, you can find him exploring the local Bay Area hiking and biking trails.
