Christian Bryant

Christian Bryant is a journalist and visual storyteller based in Washington, D.C. He is a host and reporter for Straight Arrow.

Christian has experience in a wide range of journalism roles, from hosting primetime nightly news to leading a team producing explainers and features at Scripps News and Newsy. His reporting has taken him across the country, where he amplified voices of marginalized communities, like neighborhoods ravaged by gun violence in South Chicago and migrant parents separated from their children at the U.S. southern border.

He’s also produced documentary episodes of “In Real Life,” an Emmy Award-winning vehicle that featured in-depth stories about light pollution and DIY vaccines, respectively.

In the course of his career, Christian has interviewed politicians who have mastered the art of spin, well-known public figures, vigilant community members, shy children, and even a spotlight-seeking hand puppet.

In his spare time, Christian enjoys delving into old jazz and funk records, reading books halfway before diverting his attention to other books, fumbling through boxing sessions, and cheering for his favorite North Carolina sports teams.

He and his wife, Shelby, share a home with their three cats.
