Three Americans are among hundreds of tourists reported missing after serious flash flooding in Nepal on Wednesday.
The Nepal Tourism Board said Wednesday morning that approximately 384 travelers were reported missing in affected areas. Many of their nationalities have yet to be verified.
The flooding hit the northern Rasuwa district along the border with Tibet around 8:30 a.m. local time.
Few details are known, but the Americans were reportedly traveling with a Nepali company called Fishtail Tours and Travel. The company told ABC News that search-and-rescue efforts are underway.
“Nepal Tourism Board, Tourist Police and tourism stakeholders are working to verify the whereabouts and safety status of tourists and travelers,” the tourism board said in its update on X.
The U.S. Embassy in Nepal says it’s working to locate Americans in the affected areas, but communication has been disrupted by the flooding.
