Future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers is still deciding what he wants to do next season. The top free agent left on the market is running out of options with one week to go before the NFL draft.

What did Rodgers discuss during his latest TV appearance?

On Thursday, April 17, during an appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show” on ESPN, Rodgers talked about his future and his breakup with the New York Jets, which was not as smooth as it was made out to be a month ago. Rodgers flew from California to New Jersey and met with new head coach Aaron Glenn and general manager Darren Mougey. He was immediately taken aback by what was said.

“Twenty seconds in, I’m talking to the GM, and (Glenn) leans to the edge of his seat and says: ‘You’re sure you want to play football?’ And I said, ‘Yeah, I’m interested.’ And he said, ‘We’re going in another direction at quarterback.’ I was kind of shocked,” Rodgers said.

Rodgers has made more headlines for his media appearances as a paid guest on “The Pat McAfee Show” than for his two years of play on the field in New York. However, he still feels like he is owed more than the $112.5 million the Jets continue to pay him.

“I felt there wasn’t an ample amount of respect in that meeting,” Rodgers said. “I guess I shouldn’t have been surprised based on some things I saw over two years.”

Who might Rodgers play for in 2025?

Rodgers met with several teams this offseason, including the New York Giants, Minnesota Vikings and Pittsburgh Steelers. The Steelers are the only team remaining that still needs a quarterback. However, Rodgers said Thursday, April 17, that he still hasn’t decided whether or not he’s going to retire.

The Jets, however, signed former Steelers quarterback Justin Fields in the offseason. Glenn talked at the league meetings two weeks ago about how excited he was to have the dual threat as his starter.

“We’re going to let him play quarterback,” Glenn said. “I mean, that’s what he’s always wanted to do and listen, I’m not saying that he hasn’t had a chance to play that in other places, and you know that’s not my issue, but I know what I want to do with that player and obviously want to utilize his legs but also want to give him a chance to go out there and play quarterback.”

Only time will tell whether or not Fields plays well in New York. The Jets are likely feeling much better about not being in the middle of any future Aaron Rodgers drama.

  • Not enough coverage from media outlets in the center to provide a bias comparison.
  • Media outlets on the right emphasize Rodgers' perspective, using charged language like "slams" and "scorched Earth" to portray him as a victim of a "contentious" and abrupt exit, and highlighting fan reactions seemingly aligned with Rodgers.
