Activists briefly displayed a photograph and caption targeting Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor at the Louvre, saying they wanted to draw attention to allegations involving the former British royal.
The group, “Everyone Hates Elon,” placed a label beneath the image reading, “He’s Sweating Now — 2026,” and said the action was intended to call for accountability.

The photograph and caption were displayed for about 15 minutes before being removed by museum staff.
The younger brother of King Charles III, was arrested Thursday, his 66th birthday, on suspicion of misconduct in public office. Authorities are investigating allegations that he shared confidential British government documents with Jeffrey Epstein, a U.S. financier who was later convicted of sex offenses and died in 2019.
Mountbatten-Windsor has consistently denied wrongdoing related to Epstein and has said he regretted what he described as an “ill-judged association.”
He was released from police custody Friday and has not been charged. Police said a search of a property in Norfolk, where he currently lives, has concluded, while searches in Berkshire, where his longtime home at Royal Lodge is located, are continuing.
Investigators are examining allegations that Mountbatten-Windsor shared confidential information with Epstein while serving as the United Kingdom’s trade envoy. Authorities have not said which specific allegations led to the arrest, though.
The U.S. Justice Department has released emails that appear to show Mountbatten-Windsor sharing reports from official trade visits with Epstein in 2010, including one message sent minutes after the document was received.
Mountbatten-Windsor has denied maintaining ties with Epstein after Epstein’s 2008 conviction, aside from a visit to New York in 2010 that he has said was intended to end their relationship. He has long denied any criminal conduct.
If charged and convicted, misconduct in public office carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment in the U.K.
