Amazon making smart glasses for drivers, aimed at making deliveries faster

Full story

Could a special pair of glasses for delivery drivers be the key to making sure your Amazon packages are always delivered on time? Amazon is developing smart glasses that would give drivers turn-by-turn navigation on a small embedded screen along their routes to make deliveries happen faster.

The glasses are being modeled off Amazon’s Echo Frames that are on the market now with audio only.

It’s not clear how closely the delivery drivers’ glasses would mirror Amazon’s Echo Frames, but not everyone who’s tried the current glasses is leaving rave reviews.

“These don’t have nose pads which means I’m sure you’re noticing as we’re going I’m having to push up the glasses constantly,” one reviewer said on YouTube.

Amazon only sold about 10,000 of the latest Echo Frames, while Ray-Ban’s Meta glasses are having huge success. The Ray-Ban model is the company’s best-seller in 60% of Ray-Ban stores worldwide.

Sources told Reuters could take Amazon years to perfect the smart glasses for drivers.
