Officials within Biden’s administration have raised concerns that he might not have even been directly involved in granting clemency, specifically to some people with violent criminal backgrounds. There are also questions about whether the use of the autopen in the process is legal.
Earlier this year, President Donald Trump questioned Biden’s use of the autopen, saying orders signed using the device were “null and void.” He also accused Biden of using the autopen to cover up signs of “cognitive decline.”
Biden himself has denied the allegation, saying in a statement in June, “Let me be clear: I made the decisions during my presidency. I made the decisions about the pardons, executive orders, legislation and proclamations.”
Media Miss by the right: Eric Adams staying in NYC mayoral race, says Trump made no job offers
New York Mayor Eric Adams is quashing rumors that he’ll drop out of the mayoral race to join the Trump administration.
In a statement, Adams said, “Serving New Yorkers as their mayor is the only job I ever wanted.”
His remarks come after President Donald Trump told reporters he’d like “to see two people drop out and have it be one-on-one.”
“I am the only one that can beat Mamdani,” Adams said during a news conference on Friday, Sept. 5.
He also dismissed former New York governor, Andrew Cuomo, calling him “a snake and a liar.”
