Former President Joe Biden has re-signed with Creative Artists Agency (CAA), the talent agency that represented him from 2017 to 2020. The move suggests he may pursue new projects in media, speaking engagements or publishing.

On Monday, Feb. 3, CAA’s co-chairman announced Biden’s return in an Instagram post.

“His lifelong commitment to public service is one of unity, optimism, dignity, and possibility. We are profoundly honored to partner with him again,” the statement read.

CAA represents some of the biggest names in entertainment, sports and fashion. Clients include Tom Hanks, Beyoncé and Justin Bieber.

Signing to the agency means having agents who negotiate deals, secure partnerships and manage career opportunities. The firm specializes in high-profile clients across industries.

Why does a former president need a talent agency?

In the same announcement, CAA cited Biden’s memoir, “Promise Me, Dad” and his American Promise Tour as examples of past projects. The move indicates that his representation could focus on future book deals, speaking events or media appearances.

Biden is not the first former president to step into the entertainment and creative industries.

After leaving the White House in 2009, George W. Bush took up painting as a personal hobby. Initially, he kept his work private but later shared his portraits with the public. His paintings, often featuring real people he has encountered, are displayed at his presidential library in Dallas.

Meanwhile, former President Jimmy Carter posthumously won his fourth Grammy Award this week. His latest win was for “Last Sundays in Plains: A Centennial Celebration,” which features recordings of his final Sunday school lessons. Carter was recognized in the best audiobook, narration and storytelling recording category.

Former President Barack Obama has also made his mark in entertainment. He has won two Grammy Awards for best spoken word album. In addition, he holds two Primetime Emmy Awards for best narrator in the Netflix series “Our Great National Parks” and “Working: What We Do All Day.”

In 2018, Barack and Michelle Obama founded Higher Ground Productions, a film and television company in partnership with Netflix. Their work includes the Academy Award-winning documentary “American Factory” (2019) and the recent thriller “Leave the World Behind.”

What’s next for Joe Biden?

Biden’s next move under CAA remains unclear. However, his return to the agency suggests the former president could step further into the public eye — whether through books, speaking engagements or other media projects.
