California’s Park Fire has grown into the sixth largest wildfire in the state’s history. According to Cal Fire, the Park Fire has scorched over 370,000 acres across four counties and is only 12% contained, leading to widespread evacuations and contributing to poor air quality.

It’s forced thousands to abandon their homes and contributed to poor air quality from coast to coast. 

Authorities said the fire started when a man, identified as 42-year-old Ronnie Dean Stout II, pushed a burning car into a dry ravine near his hometown of Chico, Butte County. He was officially was indicted on felony arson charges on Monday, July 29.

His arraignment is set to continue on Thursday, Aug. 1. He will be held without bail pending trial. As of now, Stout has not entered a plea, and details about his legal representation are not available.
