7-year-old stabbed in Chicago

The first incident occurred just before noon on Saturday in Chicago’s Chatham neighborhood. Officials say a 7-year-old girl was walking down the street when a woman approached her, pulled out a sharp object and stabbed the girl in the back multiple times.

The young girl was taken to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The woman who stabbed her was injured when bystanders in the area rushed to aid the girl and detain the suspect. She was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and was taken into police custody.

Charges are now pending, but police have not revealed whether the girl and suspect knew each other or if the attack was random.

Alderwoman Michelle Harris released a statement following the incident, saying her heart goes out ot the family, and recognizing the bystanders who stepped in.

“Their quick actions may have prevented further harm,” Harris said.

Deadly crossfire at youth football game

Hours later, around 6:15 p.m. local time in Baltimore, a 12-year-old girl was killed in crossfire when two men got into an argument, according to Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott.

When officers responded to the shooting, they found both the child and a woman with gunshot wounds. Both were taken to a local hospital, where the 12-year-old died, and the woman remains in stable condition.

Two men also arrived at local hospitals seeking treatment, but their injuries were non-life-threatening.

Officials say two men were arguing over a parking space before the gunfire started.

“The dispute most likely occurred from a stupid parking spot, and they get into a fight, and the two cowards pull guns on each other, and the one fires multiple rounds down range and hits the little girl who most likely was down there by field,” Baltimore Police Commissioner Richard Worley said.

Now, Baltimore officials are asking anyone with information to call police.

2 dead, 35 injured during homecoming block party

The third incident occurred in Vienna, Georgia, around 1:20 a.m. Sunday. Officials there say a homecoming block party with more than 1,000 people in attendance turned violent.

Deputies with the Dooly County Sheriff’s Office were at the event, monitoring the crowd when someone opened fire, killing two and injuring 35, with 25 having been taken to a local hospital.

The two killed were men, ages 20 and 23. Their identities have not been released.

Sheriff Craig Peavy said the suspect fired approximately 50 rounds in at least two locations.

Now, authorities are investigating. Local news station WMAZ says they have not released information on what led to the shooting or any potential suspects.
