In her post, Parton explained, “I am not going to be able to rehearse and put together the show that I want you to see, and the show that you deserve to see. You pay good money to see me perform, and I want to be at my best for you.”

She lightened the news with humor, joking that it was not her usual trip to see a plastic surgeon.

“And don’t worry about me quittin’ the business because God hasn’t said anything about stopping yet,” Parton wrote. “But, I believe He is telling me to slow down right now so I can be ready for more big adventures with all of you.”

Her residency is now set to begin in September 2026, nine months after the original start date. Tickets will remain valid for the new dates, though refunds are available.

Fans and friends show support

While some fans were disappointed, Parton’s  comment section was flooded with well wishes and support — even from celebrities.

Singer Katy Perry wrote, “We love you so much ♥️ you got this!”

Journalist Hoda Kotb commented, “Nobody better ❤️❤️❤️.”

Other recent health setbacks

Parton has not shared details  about her current medical procedures. Earlier this month, she pulled out of a Dollywood event, saying that a kidney stone had developed into an infection.

The incident raised concerns about her health, but she reassured fans that she was taking steps to recover.

“The doctor said, ‘You don’t need to be traveling around this minute… You need a few days to feel better,’” she said in a video shared to social media. “So he suggested I not go to Dollywood today.”

Coping with personal loss

Health is not the only challenge Parton has faced in 2025. Earlier this year, she lost her husband, Carl Dean, her partner of six decades.

Despite the personal and physical setbacks, Parton’s loyal fan base continues to rally behind her as she prepares to return to the stage next fall.
