What was the alleged FBI plan?
The two female agents acted as what the intelligence community calls honeypots. The agents worked to build romantic relationships to obtain information from a target. They traveled with President Trump and his campaign staff.
The whistleblower disclosure stated they have first-hand knowledge that Comey ordered and personally directed the investigation. They also described the investigation as a fishing expedition to find something incriminating rather than targeting a specific crime.
“The case had no predicated foundation, so Comey personally directed the investigation without creating an official case file in Sentinel or any other FBI system,” according to the disclosure obtained by The Washington Times. “The FBI has multiple methods of protecting highly sensitive investigations, so Comey did not have a legitimate reason not to officially create an official investigation file or have a file number.”
Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz conducted probes into multiple FBI investigations regarding the Trump campaign and Hillary Clinton’s private email server. Both investigations led up to the 2016 presidential campaign. The reports found the FBI made serious mistakes, didn’t follow protocol and in some cases acted with bias.
