Wife speaks

Erika Kirk pledged to continue her late husband Charlie Kirk’s work with Turning Point USA, sparking tens of thousands of inquiries from students nationwide to start new chapters.

Interest surging

TPUSA confirmed a surge in interest, logging more than 32,000 requests in 48 hours, bringing the organization closer to its goal of reaching every high school in the U.S.

What is TPUSA?

Founded in 2012, TPUSA is a nonprofit promoting conservative principles on campuses, with over 3,500 high school and college chapters.

Erika Kirk, widow of Charlie Kirk, who was assassinated, said the organization her husband founded will continue. She pledged to carry on Turning Point USA’s mission, a commitment that has sparked thousands of inquiries from across the country about starting new chapters.

“If you thought that my husband’s mission was powerful before you have no idea,” she said. “You have no idea what you have unleashed across this entire country and this world.”

Erika Kirk spoke in a video posted on X on Sept. 12, thanking local and federal law enforcement for capturing her husband’s accused killer, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson. She also thanked first responders for working to save Charlie’s life when he was shot at Utah Valley University’s campus.

Turning Point USA calls remarks a turning point

The group called Erika Kirk’s remarks a turning point for America, saying they spurred 18,000 new chapter requests. After her address, Minnesota Rep. Elliot Engen shared a message from a TPUSA staffer confirming the surge in interest.

That figure kept climbing. Andrew Kolvet, a spokesperson for the group, said in a post Sunday that TPUSA logged more than 32,000 inquiries within 48 hours. Kolvet added that Charlie Kirk’s long-term goal of expanding TPUSA’s “Club America” brand into every high school in the country could now be within reach far sooner than expected.

“You have no idea the fire that you have ignited within this wife. The cries of this widow will echo around the world like a battle cry,” Erika Kirk said.

She said her husband’s work on college campuses will continue, vowing not to let it fade. Erika Kirk added that his name will live on and that the movement he built will grow stronger and more determined.

Speaking directly to the college and high school students who followed Charlie’s message, Erika Kirk told them they already know what he would want them to do. She encouraged them to become members of their local TPUSA chapter or to start one if it didn’t exist, insisting that everyone had a responsibility to get involved.

What is Turning Point USA?

Charlie Kirk founded TPUSA in 2012 and was the CEO until his death. It’s a nonprofit with a mission to identify, educate, train and organize students to promote the principles of fiscal responsibility, free markets and limited government.

According to its website, TPUSA began with the goal of connecting young conservatives and giving them a stronger voice on school campuses. Today, the group says it reaches more than 3,500 high schools and colleges..

TPUSA has built a reputation as a powerful player in youth political organizing, praised by supporters for giving young conservatives a stronger voice on campus. Critics, however, have argued the group uses polarizing tactics and fosters division in already tense campus environments.

Recently, the organization has expanded its reach beyond campuses, creating affiliated projects like Turning Point Action and Turning Point Faith. Both groups focus on grassroots activism and faith-based outreach.
