Gloves found in Nancy Guthrie search may match suspect in video

Summary

Preliminary lab results link glove to surveillance footage

One glove found two miles from Nancy Guthrie’s home appears to match gloves seen on surveillance video, and the FBI is awaiting final confirmation before submitting an unknown male DNA profile into CODIS.

Multiple gloves recovered, most tied to search efforts

Investigators located 16 gloves in the area, though authorities say most were discarded by volunteer searchers and not connected to the case.

Overnight SWAT operations escalate investigation

Tactical teams executed operations at several locations, towed a Range Rover, and removed items for evidence, but no arrests have been made; the suspect is described as an average-built man around 5-foot-9 to 5-foot-10 seen tampering with a doorbell camera.

“The FBI received preliminary results yesterday on 2/14 and are awaiting quality control and official confirmation today before putting unknown male profile into CoDIS, (Combined DNA Index System) the national database unique to the bureau,” the FBI stated.

The agency added 16 gloves were found in that area. Most of them were searchers’ gloves discarded as they searched, the FBI said.

Late Friday night authorities investigating Guthrie’s disappearance carried out overnight SWAT operations that resulted in the towing of a vehicle, marking a significant escalation in a multi-agency search that has drawn national attention. No arrests have been made, though, according to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.

The sheriff’s office said tactical teams executed operations at several locations tied to Guthrie’s case. Authorities were seen removing items from a Range Rover and taking pictures.

The sheriff’s department described the suspect seen in surveillance footage as a man of average build, approximately 5 feet 9 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall, who was reportedly seen tampering with a doorbell camera near the residence
