International agency dismantles child abuse network on dark web, “Kidflix”

Europol led a global operation that dismantled “KidFlix,” one of the world’s largest dark web platforms used by pedophiles, according to the law enforcement agency. The platform hosted over 91,000 child sexual abuse videos and had 1.8 million users globally.
Authorities seized a server containing 72,000 videos and identified nearly 1,400 suspects, with 79 arrested.
The operation protected 39 children and involved cooperation from 35 countries, including the U.S., Germany, Canada, and Australia.

Thousands of hours of abuse content hosted

Investigators said KidFlix hosted more than 91,000 videos depicting child sexual abuse. The content amassed over 6,000 hours of footage. Before being taken down, an estimated 3.5 new videos were uploaded to the site every hour.

Authorities confiscated the platform’s central server, which alone contained 72,000 videos.

Nearly 1,400 suspects identified globally

The investigation led to the identification of approximately 1,400 suspects worldwide. So far, 79 individuals have been arrested and charged with distributing child sexual abuse material.

German authorities, who played a leading role in the case, said they also focused on identifying victims. According to Europol, 39 children were protected as a result of the operation.

Europol’s largest coordinated operation

Europol described the bust as the largest operation it has ever coordinated. The international effort spanned 35 countries, including Germany, Australia, Canada, and the United States.

German police confirmed that a serial abuser was identified and apprehended in the United States. Few details about that case have been released.

Platform created by cybercriminal for profit

KidFlix was created in 2021 by an alleged cybercriminal who, according to Europol, made significant profits from the site. The platform allowed users to pay for child sexual abuse material using cryptocurrency.

AUTHORITIES WERE ABLE TO CONFISCATE THE “CENTRAL SERVER OF THE PLATFORM” CONTAINING 72 THOUSAND OF THE VIDEOS.

THROUGH THE INVESTIGATION – 14 HUNDRED SUSPECTS WERE IDENTIFIED – 79 SUSPECTS ALREADY ARRESTED AND CHARGED WITH DISTRIBUTING CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE MATERIAL.

AND GERMAN AUTHORITIES WORKING THE CASE SAID THEY WORKED TO “IDENTIFY CHILD VICTIMS”.

SO FAR 39 CHILDREN WERE “PROTECTED THROUGH THE OPERATION” ACCORDING TO EUROPOL.
