Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps said there will be “punishment for the aggressor” after the U.S. military reportedly struck Larak Island.
Several news outlets reported the strikes on Sunday afternoon. A U.S. official told CNN forces were observed preparing to launch rockets with mines into the Strait of Hormuz. These would be the first U.S. strikes on Iran in over a month.
The official said to CNN that U.S. troops struck two Iranian launchers.
“The American-Zionist adversary, once more acting out of frustration over its domestic challenges and waning influence in the region, aims to resurrect its malevolent presence and sway public perception,” the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps said, according to state-run media outlet IRNA.
Several citizens died or were injured in the attack, the IRGC said.
