Media Miss by the right: Mali announces $10,000 visa bond on US visitors in response to Trump admin

Mali is retaliating against Trump’s plan to require business and tourist visa applicants to post $5,000 to $10,000 bonds. The West African country is now requiring the same of U.S. citizens who want to visit.

The new U.S. fees are in addition to the standard $185 visa cost.

Mali’s foreign ministry said the U.S.’ new rule breaches a 2005 accord guaranteeing long-term visa access between the two nations.

The change is set to take effect the same day the new U.S. policy does, Oct. 23.
