Musk also said that the breakneck speed at which AI is developing is “a little terrifying” as well.

The world AI market is currently surging, with 83% of companies stating that using AI in their business strategies is top priority, according to Forbes.

xAI, the developer of Grok, responded to the controversy in a statement Wednesday, July 9 .

“We are aware of recent posts made by Grok and are actively working to remove the inappropriate posts. Since being made aware of the content, xAI has taken action to ban hate speech before Grok posts on X. xAI is training only truth-seeking and thanks to the millions of users on X, we are able to quickly identify and update the model where training could be improved,” the statement read.

Musk blamed Grok 3’s controversial posts on the AI’s inability to properly filter input from humans. He wrote on X: “Grok was too compliant to user prompts. Too eager to please and be manipulated, essentially. That is being addressed.”

The antisemitic posts came after Musk announced on Friday that “We have improved @Grok significantly. You should notice a difference when you ask Grok questions.”

That update came after some users complained about Grok being too “woke” or promoting left-leaning ideology. Musk then asked users to submit material that may be offensive but true in a bid to retrain his AI chatbot.
