The young man who gained national attention during President Donald Trump’s Congressional Address has three new tumors. Devarjaye “DJ” Daniel was given five months to live after being diagnosed with brain cancer back in 2018. Since that time, he has gone through 13 brain surgeries.
Last week, his father, Theodis Daniel Jr., told Fox News that doctors have discovered three new tumors.
“Just winging it day by day. He does have three new tumors,” Theodis said. “It’s rough, there isn’t a class that can teach you how to deal with it. You’re hearing that your child has a nasty disease.”
The White House and Secret Service are among the many social media posts offering support following the latest news.
“We’re lifting up Agent DJ Daniel in prayer after his dad, Theodis, shared that DJ is now facing three new tumors. DJ is one of the strongest, bravest young men,” The White House post read.
On Saturday morning, May 31, the Secret Service posted, “We are concerned to learn this morning that DJ Daniel is facing new challenges. We’ve never met a more courageous and inspiring young man. The entire Secret Service family stands with him as he overcomes this next chapter.”
“We’re just going around showing people, hey, you do care for one another. Let’s give compassion and let’s try to join and help each other get through things,” Theodis told reporters.
DJ dreams of becoming a police officer. He earned the title of honorary protector of Trump by the Secret Service during the president’s address back on March 4.
On May 19, DJ was sworn in as an honorary member of the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office in Williamson County, Texas. His original goal was to be sworn in by just 100 agencies –– Williamson County was his 1,351st swearing in.
