The Ohio State Buckeyes are not even 24 hours removed from winning the national championship with a 34-23 win over Notre Dame, and they are already favorites to win next season’s championship. Sportsbooks in Las Vegas and online have posted odds for the 2025 title. Here are the top 10 programs.

Texas follows the Buckeyes. The schools play each other in the season’s first game on Aug. 30 in Columbus, Ohio.
Oregon is third, followed by Georgia, Penn State and Notre Dame in sixth. The top six teams made it to the quarterfinals in the recently completed playoff.
Alabama comes in at No. 7, followed by Tennessee, Clemson and LSU at No. 10.
What’s next for Ohio State?
On the morning of Tuesday, Jan. 21, after a big night of celebration and only about 3 hours of sleep, Ohio State Head Coach Ryan Day was already answering questions about the following season.
“Yeah, try losing the first game and see how that goes at Ohio State. We’ll see about that. I think we have a great group coming back, but I think what these guys have had an opportunity to do — we had 145 guys on the team, and a percentage of those guys were newcomers, freshmen, and also some of the transfers that are coming in,” Day said during the champions press conference Tuesday. “The thing I told them is you have to use this time as an opportunity to learn what it’s supposed to look like, and these guys set an amazing example.”
Day is optimistic, but there are rumors that the NFL may come calling, so there’s an outside chance he doesn’t get to go for a repeat title.
Another possible factor in winning the title is that only three teams on the list will have the same starting quarterback they had this past season. Those schools are Penn State, Tennessee and Clemson.
The 12-team playoff format may also change. The university presidents who oversee the tournament have charged conference commissioners with reviewing the inaugural event and making recommendations.
For instance, should the highest-ranked conference champions continue to get first-round byes? All four seeded teams in the inaugural playoff lost in their first game. The committee will discuss this over the next few months.
