The Philadelphia Eagles are testing their Super Bowl-winning good vibes with some sky-high concession prices before the 2025 season even kicks off. Fans are not pleased, and in true Philly fashion, have voiced their opinion.

What started the concession price controversy?

An image going viral on social media shows what many fans describe as outrageous prices at Lincoln Financial Field. The team recently signed a deal with Philly-based sports bar Chickie’s & Pete’s and introduced several concession stands around the stadium with their most popular items.

After standing in line for most of the first quarter, fans can get a can of Miller Lite beer for $18.50. A large soda is priced at $12.50, a regular soda is $9.50 and a bottle of water is $7.75.

What is the reaction from Eagles fans?

The City of Brotherly Love is known for its brash, outspoken fan base and they did not hold back in the comment section.

“This s— is out of control. From ticket prices to parking to food,” Cherry Hill Chuck wrote.

“Ridiculous prices, total bs $ grab, disappointing,” said another fan.

A few more comments read, “$18.50 for a miller lite? I’d rather die of thirst,” and “A $4 cheese cup. Chickie and Pete deserve jail time.”

Except it’s not Chickie’s & Pete’s fault. The team has marked up prices more than double what the company charges in its restaurants for the same items. The beer prices seem to be upsetting fans the most. A can of Miller Lite at the Linc is $1.50 more than beer costs at Super Bowl LIV in New Orleans, where the Eagles trounced the two-time defending champion Kansas City Chiefs.

How do the prices compare to those around the league?

Compared to beer prices around the NFL in 2024, the markup seems excessive. A list of stadium beer prices compiled in 2024 by 93.5 The Fan in Indianapolis outlines the differences. Prices in Cincinnati and Cleveland, Ohio, were the lowest in the league in 2024 at around $7 per can of beer.

Teams like the Green Bay Packers and even the Philadelphia Eagles were in the middle of the 32-team list, with prices between $10 and $11 per beer.

The most expensive beer in the league was in Las Vegas at $15 per can before taxes. At Commanders Field in Landover, Maryland, beer sold for $16.49 per can, the highest in the NFL. The Eagles and their $18.50 beers are the most expensive in 2025, by far.

Some fans defended the price increases, saying“this is what happens when your team wins a Super Bowl trophy” or “You gotta pay for (running back) Saquon Barkley somehow”.

It seems, however, the fastest way for the Eagles to quell this “concession outrage” is to win another championship.
