Full story

Sean “Diddy” Combs’ laundry list of legal problems just got more literal. After being transferred to a federal prison in New Jersey on Thursday, the music mogul’s first job reportedly involves washing and drying clothes for other inmates.

According to multiple reports, Combs’ request to be moved from the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York, was granted. He is now housed at the Federal Correctional Institution in Fort Dix, New Jersey, a low-security facility. CBS News reported his lawyers pushed for the transfer “to address drug abuse issues and to maximize family visitation and rehabilitative efforts.”

During his high-profile trial, investigators detailed years of alleged drug culture surrounding Combs. Homeland Security agents found two bags of MDMA, also known as ecstasy, in the Park Hyatt Hotel where Combs was staying just days before his arrest in Manhattan.

Dangerous conditions reported in Brooklyn

Combs’ transfer followed reports of unsafe conditions inside the Brooklyn detention center, including inmate violence and poor living standards. The facility has a reputation for overcrowding and lack of resources.

“He woke up with a knife to his throat,” Combs’ friend Charlucci Finney recently told the Daily Mail. “I don’t know whether he fought him off or the guards came, I just know that it happened.”

Along with news of his prison duties, new photos of Combs surfaced following his transfer. TMZ obtained the first images of the rapper since his September 2024 arrest.

Earlier courtroom sketches showed a noticeably grayer beard, but cameras were not allowed in court. The new photos confirm his graying appearance. Combs appeared smiling and chatting with other inmates. He’s now one of 3,923 prisoners at Fort Dix, compared with 1,319 at the Brooklyn facility.

Combs’ attorneys also filed a motion last week seeking a faster review of his sentencing. He’s serving a 50-month sentence related to a federal prostitution transportation charge issued last month.

The legal filing states that a quicker appeal “could meaningfully benefit from any appellate ruling vacating his sentence,” according to Billboard. The Federal Bureau of Prisons lists Combs’ scheduled release date as May 8, 2028.
