Search for suspect ongoing

Police have since released still images of the suspect in hopes the public can identify him.

The incident, which Prado described as “deeply unsettling,” comes just a month after the targeted shootings of Democratic Minnesota state lawmakers Melissa Hortman, John Hoffman, as well as both their spouses, who were shot in their homes. Hortman and her husband were killed in the attack. Hoffman and his wife survived.

Following those attacks, Wisconsin Assembly Speaker Robin Vos has launched efforts to bolster security for lawmakers at the Wisconsin State Capitol.

Wisconsin State Capitol Police said the investigation into the incident at Prado’s home remains ongoing.

Prado releases statement

Prado said in a statement on Tuesday, July 22, “Late last night, a disturbance occurred at my residence. Authorities have been notified and are actively investigating this situation. I am grateful that no one was injured.”

She added, “This has been a deeply unsettling experience, and I appreciate the influx of concern. I respectfully ask for privacy and patience as law enforcement continues its work.”

Suspect description

Investigators describe the suspect as a white man in his ”late 40s to early 50s,” roughly 6 feet tall, 200 pounds, with “shoulder-length blonde hair.”

Anyone with any information is urged to call the police

The man did not gain access to the inside of the home. He was reportedly seen walking around Prado’s residence, though police have not disclosed how long he remained at the scene.
