California Gov. Gavin Newsom is launching a new podcast, “This is Gavin Newsom,” set to debut in March. Newsom says his podcast will feature conversations with people he often disagrees with, including prominent figures in the MAGA movement.
“We need to change the conversation. This is going to be anything but the ordinary politician podcast. I’m going to be talking to people directly that I disagree with, as well as people I look up to. But more important than anything else, I’ll be talking directly with you.”
Featuring big political names
Newsom confirmed that the podcast’s early episodes will feature conversations with key figures in conservative politics. However, he did not disclose specific guest names.
In promotional materials, images of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy appear in the background.

“In the first few weeks, we’re going to be sitting down with some of the biggest leaders and architects in the MAGA movement,” Newsom said.
Expanding his media reach
This new podcast is part of a broader effort by Newsom to expand his national presence. The governor, who is considered a potential Democratic presidential candidate in 2028, already hosts “Politickin’.” The show is a weekly sports and culture podcast he launched in July 2024.
The show features former NFL star Marshawn Lynch and sports agent Doug Hendrickson, and it has also included celebrity guests like comedian Chelsea Handler and Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban.
Newsom described his new podcast as a way to communicate directly with the public on pressing concerns.
“What’s going on with the cost of eggs? What are the impacts of tariffs? What power does an executive order really have? And what’s really going on inside of DOGE?” Newsom asked in a preview.
Positioning for the future
Newsom’s new media push comes as speculation grows about his political future.
His reputation as a vocal Democratic figure was cemented in the 2024 election cycle when he engaged in high-profile debates and interviews with conservative media personalities, including an appearance on Sean Hannity’s show and a debate with DeSantis on Fox News.
With “This is Gavin Newsom,” the governor may be looking to further establish his voice on the national stage as a potential contender in 2028.
