The PGA Tour’s Genesis Invitational, hosted by Tiger Woods, has announced a new location for the tournament next month. Torrey Pines, a familiar location to golf fans and the Tour, is the interim host during its normal week, Feb. 13 through 16.
The Genesis announced the move from the Riviera Country Club in Los Angeles on Jan. 16 because of the continued threat of wildfires in the area. The potential for poor air quality and the destruction in Pacific Palisades, which borders on the Riviera Country Club, meant Tiger and the Tour had no choice but to find an alternate location.

Golf Channel’s Rex Hoggard, who visited the devastated area last week in Los Angeles, discussed it on Friday, Jan. 24.
“It was two decisions. The Tour had to decide ‘we cannot play at Riviera’ that’s best for everyone involved considering what that community has been through, and then you had to find a home, and there were no bad options,” said Hoggard, “I know PGA West was in the mix, I know they were considering a course in Las Vegas, maybe even sending it somewhere else in the LA area; this makes the most sense, though. The South course has a lot of pedigree; it’s associated with Tiger Woods.”
Torrey Pines, the iconic course north of San Diego, was the site of Woods’ record-breaking US Open win in 2008. Woods has eight wins there overall. This weekend, the course is hosting the PGA Tour’s Farmers Insurance Open. Organizers can keep much of the infrastructure in place when players and fans return in three weeks’ time.
Commissioner of the PGA Tour Jay Monahan released the following statement:
“As we’ve seen the last two weeks, sports can be a great diversion but an even greater unifier in bringing people together for a common cause. Highlighting the resilience of Los Angeles and the need for continued support for the ongoing recovery efforts is what our collective teams are working towards with the playing of The Genesis Invitational at Torrey Pines. Our thanks to Tiger Woods, TGR Live, and Genesis for their leadership in these efforts. We are grateful to Farmers Insurance®, Mayor Todd Gloria and the City of San Diego and the Century Club for extending the invitation to relocate The Genesis Invitational to Torrey Pines.”
Tiger Woods followed with a statement of his own:
“We are grateful to the City of San Diego and Torrey Pines for hosting the 2025 Genesis Invitational, and to everyone who has reached out in support of the tournament. While Riviera remains the home of The Genesis Invitational, we look forward to playing on another championship-caliber golf course this year and using the tournament to support those affected by the fires in the Los Angeles area.”
Riviera has been featured on the PGA Tour since 1929. Additionally, as mentioned in Tiger’s statement, the plan is for the Genesis to return to Los Angeles next February.
