Media Miss by the right: ICE ignored increase in use-of-force reports among its agents: Report

According to a new report from the nonprofit watchdog American Oversight, the Trump administration was aware of an increase in use-of-force reports involving federal immigration agents beginning shortly after President Donald Trump returned to office in January 2025.

Records obtained by the group show 67 use-of-force incidents involving  Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers in the first month of Trump’s second term – up from 17 during the same period in 2024.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said its use-of-force policy has not changed. “DHS law enforcement officers are trained to use the minimum amount of force necessary to de-escalate dangerous situations to prioritize the safety of the public and our officers,” a DHS spokesperson told Newsweek.

Media Miss by the left: Schumer files legislation for US, Pride flags to have same federal protections

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer is proposing legislation to designate the Pride flag as a congressionally authorized symbol, granting it the same federal protections as the U.S. flag.

The bill would reverse the Trump administration’s removal of the Pride flag from the Stonewall National Monument — widely regarded as the birthplace of the modern LGBTQ+ movement.

A current  federal directive limits flags flown at National Park sites, including Stonewall, to official government flags.

New York officials re-raised the Pride flag at the monument on Feb. 12.
