Media Miss by the right: Trump admin floats gutting of Social Security disability benefits

The Trump administration is considering eliminating age as a factor in determining whether someone is capable of working, according to a new report from The Washington Post. That would make it harder for elderly Americans to qualify for disability.

The other option would be raising the minimum age to qualify for Social Security disability to 60 years old. According to The Post, Office of Management and Budget Director Russell Vought supports eliminating age entirely.

Media Miss by the left: Judge rules Biden’s expansive ban on offshore drilling was illegal

A federal judge says former President Joe Biden’s total ban on offshore oil drilling is too broad and illegal. The judge also ruled former President Barack Obama overstepped his legal authority by enacting a similar ban.

The Trump administration had already moved to lift the drilling ban prior to the ruling.

The Biden-era order had blocked offshore drilling off much of the U.S. eastern and western coastlines, as well as some protected Alaskan waters. However, a majority of U.S. offshore oil production comes from the Gulf of Mexico, which the Biden and Obama orders still allowed.
