According to the GSA’s letter, at least 113 taxpayer assistance centers will have their leases terminated or not renewed when they expire, the Post reports.

According to the agency, a taxpayer assistance center provides in-person help for taxpayers during the filing season.

Under the Biden administration, Congress approved nearly $80 billion in additional funding for the IRS through the 2022 Inflation Reduction Act. Congress later rescinded some of that funding. However, the agency opened more than 50 assistance centers in the last three years, bringing the total to more than 350 nationwide.

Last week, the Department of Government Efficiency indicated the Trump administration would lay off 7,000 IRS employees.
