The president added, “At some point, hopefully in the near future, China will realize that the days of ripping off the U.S.A., and other Countries, is no longer sustainable or acceptable.”
Who will see a pause?
Trump attributed the move to pause the full effect of tariffs to “more than 75 countries” reaching out to the United States “to negotiate a solution” to tariffs imposed by the Trump administration this month.
Trump said he has “authorized a 90 day PAUSE, and a substantial lowered Reciprocal Tariffs during this period, of 10%, also effective immediately.”
The president said the pause applies to nations who have not “retaliated in any way, shape, or form against the United States,” but who that all includes is not entirely clear at this point.
What other notable developments have happened?
The move came after the European Union voted to approve retaliatory tariffs against the United States in response to Trump’s tariffs on European steel and aluminum, which Straight Arrow News reported on Wednesday.
