Giuliani was taken to a local hospital, where his staff reported he was expected to make a full recovery.

State police said the collision occurred shortly before 10 p.m. on Interstate 93 northbound in Manchester, near where troopers were handling a separate domestic violence call. Theodore Goodman drove Giuliani in a Ford Bronco when 19-year-old Lauren Kemp of Concord struck them from behind in a Honda HR-V. The impact sent both vehicles into the median and caused significant damage.

Giuliani’s background

Giuliani served as Mayor of New York City from 1994 to 2001. He drew praise following the 9/11 attacks for his handling of the situation.  In 2007, he sought the Republican Party’s presidential nomination for the 2008 election. He withdrew in January 2008.

Giuliani went on to work for Trump’s legal counsel to challenge the 2020 presidential election. Back in February 2025, he satisfied a defamation judgment with two Georgia election workers regarding statements following the 2020 presidential elections.

Bias comparison

  • Media outlets on the left frame Trump’s award to Giuliani within a broader narrative of controversy, emphasizing his disbarment, $148 million defamation judgment and the human toll of his false election fraud claims — terms like “Trump’s lies” and “false statements” convey strong moral judgment and highlight legal ramifications.

  • Media outlets on the right appear quieter on these controversies, but deploy emotionally evocative language like “harrowing car crash” to elicit sympathy for Giuliani, spotlighting his past mayoral successes and framing the medal as a deserved honor.
