President Donald Trump said he will meet with New York City Mayor-Elect Zohran Mamdani at the White House on Friday. In a Truth Social post, Trump said the meeting was at the request of the “Communist Mayor” as Mamdani prepares to take over as leader of the nation’s largest city.

“Communist Mayor of New York City, Zohran ‘Kwame’ Mamdani, has asked for a meeting. We have agreed that this meeting will take place at the Oval Office on Friday, November 21st. Further details to follow,” Trump wrote.

A spokesperson for Mamdani said it’s customary for New York’s incoming mayors to sit down with the president. He added that Mamdani plans to press President Trump on “public safety, economic security and the affordability agenda that more than a million New Yorkers voted for just two weeks ago.”
