The White House has unveiled a new display of portraits of all U.S. presidents in chronological order. All of the portraits feature pictures of the presidents themselves, except for one, former President Joe Biden’s.
In the spot where Biden’s portrait should hang, an autopen image is in its place.

A not-so-subtle jab at Biden
The new display, which President Donald Trump has dubbed the Presidential Walk of Fame, is in the West Wing. The autopen for Biden’s portrait is featured in a social media post from the White House, with the googly-eyes emoji for a caption.
A White House official told The Washington Post that Trump hand-picked each photo.
Trump teased Biden’s autopen portrait earlier this month
Trump first floated the idea of a Biden autopen portrait last month during an interview with the Daily Caller.
At the time, he mentioned a similar wall of presidential photos at the Washington Hilton. He even teased that he had a photo of an autopen designed for Biden to be displayed somewhere in the White House, as Straight Arrow News reported.
Criticism of Biden’s autopen usage
Trump frequently criticized Biden for his use of an autopen — a tool used to duplicate a person’s signature — demanding an investigation into the 46th president’s use of the machine. He accused the Biden administration of employing it in an effort to cover up the former commander-in-chief’s cognitive decline. The Biden administration and the former president deny those accusations.
In May, House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer, R-Ky., announced he opened an investigation into Biden’s autopen use.
Presidents, including Trump, have often used an autopen to sign executive orders. Biden asserts that whenever his administration used an autopen, he authorized the move.
Biden’s communications team has yet to respond to the newly installed White House display.
Other changes to the White House under Trump
The pictures are the latest aesthetic change to the White House, which also reportedly includes the moving of portraits of former President Barack Obama and both President Bush’s to less prominent positions. The move follows criticism from Obama and the Bush family, specifically the late-George H.W. Bush, who criticized Trump in one of his books in which he acknowledged voting for Hillary Clinton in 2016.
Trump has also renovated the Rose Garden, which the gallery is reportedly next to, and work is underway to revamp the ballroom in the East Wing.
