Three House Democrats –– Kweisi Mfume of Maryland, Jerry Nadler of New York, and Robin Kelly of Illinois –– asked to be removed as co-sponsors of Rep. Shri Thanedar’s, D-Mich., Trump impeachment resolution on April 30. This request followed revelations that the resolution with seven articles was not fully vetted by Democratic leadership or the House Judiciary Committee.

Thanedar introduced the resolution amid limited support, as Democrats lost the White House and Senate and hold only a slight House minority.

House Democratic Caucus Chair Pete Aguilar expressed skepticism that Republicans in both chambers would fulfill their responsibilities, leading Democrats to decide against pursuing impeachment at this time.
