On Monday evening, June 9, Pam Bondi, the attorney general, revealed that the FBI has identified Elpidio Reyna as the individual who attacked a federal officer during the recent riots in Los Angeles. Reyna allegedly threw rocks at federal officers on Saturday, June 7, in Paramount, California, injuring one and damaging government vehicles amid the protests.
The FBI is currently executing a search warrant at Reyna’s residence and has offered up to $50,000 for tips that result in his arrest, while authorities have charged at least 50 individuals connected to the riots. Bondi warned, “If you loot, we are coming after you,” noting that looting carries up to 20 years in prison and spitting on officers can lead to five years.
The federal response escalated with deployment of roughly 700 Marines and 2,000 National Guard members as Senate Republican leaders urged condemnation of the chaotic weekend protests.
