Bill Gates said during a recent interview with the Wall Street Journal that his association with Jeffrey Epstein was a huge mistake, acknowledging that he was “foolish” to spend time with him. Gates initially believed that meeting Epstein could help advance his global health philanthropy efforts.
Epstein, a convicted sex offender, died by suicide in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges. Gates has distanced himself from Epstein, stating their relationship was never based on business dealings or friendship. “In retrospect, I was foolish to spend any time with him. And he, sort of, got time with various people by spending time with other people,” Gates told WSJ. “So yes, I think I was quite stupid. I thought it would help me with global health philanthropy. In fact, it failed to do that it was just a huge mistake.”
