Multiple significant figures in the Democratic Party have endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris to be the Democratic presidential nominee ever since President Joe Biden dropped out of the race.

However, Black Lives Matter (BLM) is criticizing the Democratic Party, saying it is a “blatant disregard for democratic principles.” BLM is instead calling for a public participation process for the nomination instead of relying only on party delegates.

The group accused party elites of attempting to manipulate Black voters by nominating Harris and an undetermined running mate without a primary vote.
