The House Intelligence Committee report alleges that the Obama-era assessment used the discredited Steele dossier to support its conclusions, challenging Brennan’s testimony. Long ago, senior officials oversaw the Dec. 9 White House directive, which ordered a new election interference assessment, under the supervision of James Clapper and John Brennan.

According to the report, the process involved Brennan overruling CIA objections and placing the dossier in Appendix A, with Brennan stating, “My bottom line is that I believe that the information warrants inclusion in the report.” Some Republicans defended the findings, while Brennan called allegations specious allegations in his rebuttal.
