Canadians are canceling business trips to the U.S. due to fears of detention. The wave of cancellations was sparked by the case of actress Jasmine Mooney, who was banned from the U.S. for five years after a work visa application.

Business travel by air between Canada and the U.S. fell by close to 40% year-over-year in February, according to Flight Centre Travel Group Canada.

Statistics Canada reported a 32% decline in Canadian return visits by car from the U.S. last month.

Widespread cancellations are affecting various sectors, with trips planned as far out as 2027 being called off, as businesses react to tariffs and political tensions with the U.S.
