An editorial cartoon by Pulitzer winner Adam Zyglis in The Buffalo News showing a man in a MAGA hat swept away by Texas floodwaters sparked online fury and death threats against him. The threats led to officials postponing a local journalism event.

Critics, including Chris Jacobs, stated that the cartoon disrespects the tragedy and called for an apology from The Buffalo News.

The death toll from the floods in Texas has risen to at least 120, with many victims being children from Camp Mystic.
