Starting June 1, China will permit nationals from Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Peru and Uruguay to enter the country without a visa for up to 30 days, as part of a one-year trial program aimed at enhancing ties with Latin America. The initiative follows Beijing hosting the China-CELAC Forum aimed at strengthening regional alliances and boosting ties.

The visa-free entry permits stays up to 30 days to promote closer connections after strict pandemic travel restrictions. Lin Jian, a spokesperson for the foreign ministry, expressed openness to increased international visits to China, encouraging people to explore the country’s rich and diverse culture.

This trial visa-free program reflects China’s broader opening to dozens of countries to boost its economy and counter U.S. influence.
