On Monday, Shane Devon Tamura opened fire at 345 Park Avenue in Midtown Manhattan, killing five people before shooting himself. Tamura reportedly traveled from Las Vegas.

While reporting on the shooting prior to Tamura’s identification, CNN host Erin Burnett asked John Miller, CNN’s chief law enforcement and intelligence analyst, if authorities had “any idea” who the suspect is.

“They do not know who he is,” Miller responded. “They know he is a male, possibly white. He’s wearing sunglasses, he appears to have a mustache, and that picture has been distributed to every police officer in New York City.”

Miller’s comment that the shooter was “possibly white,” despite surveillance evidence to the contrary, was widely criticized by various media outlets and personalities, including The Blaze and Turning Point USA’s Charlie Kirk. In a post on X, Kirk accused CNN of having “an agenda.”
