Republican lawmakers criticized what they termed a “woke” curriculum at a House education panel meeting on Wednesday, Dec. 4, highlighting concerns over critical race theory in schools. GOP members of the U.S. House Subcommittee on Early Childhood, Elementary and Secondary Education alleged that critical race theory is being taught in kindergarten through 12th-grade schools.

Rep. Jahana Hayes, D-Conn., stated that during her 15 years as a public school history teacher, there was never any mention of critical race theory in her educational training.
