DA suggests Georgia election interference case against Trump may continue

The Fulton County DA’s Office urged an appeals court to reject Trump’s immunity claim regarding the Georgia election interference case. The filing argued that Trump’s lawyers did not show why state prosecution should follow the Department of Justice memorandum.
Fulton County Chief Senior Assistant DA F. McDonald Wakeford requested the Georgia Court of Appeals to dismiss Trump’s request to end the case. The case is based on two grand juries and years of investigation, with claims of local prejudice deemed unfounded. Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis has now been removed from the case, but decided not to stop the case outright. The future of the case itself is now uncertain.
