16% left coverage46% right coverage

The Department of Homeland Security launched an investigation into California’s Cash Assistance Program for Immigrants for potentially providing federal benefits to illegal immigrants. DHS issued a subpoena to Los Angeles County to obtain records regarding the assistance program from January 2021 to the present.

California’s Cash Assistance Program for Immigrants serves aged, blind or disabled noncitizens and does not typically provide support to undocumented individuals, as per the California Department of Social Services.

DHS Secretary Kristi Noem emphasized that this investigation marks the beginning of a broader effort to ensure migrants aren’t misusing benefits.

She said, “If you are an illegal immigrant, you should leave now.”
