The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced a new $1,000.00 fee for immigrants in the United States approved for humanitarian parole. The fee will not be assessed on everyone who applies for humanitarian parole, the department clarified, but will be billed to candidates whose applications are approved.
The exact dollar figure of the fee will be subject to annual revision in accordance with changes in the Consumer Price Index, Fox News reported.

The news comes after the Trump administration announced a new “visa integrity fee” of $250 for many tourists and travelers visiting the United States.
The administration has also sought to dramatically raise the cost of H1-B foreign worker visas up to $100,000.00. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce has sued the administration in an attempt to halt that effort, calling the administration’s move “plainly unlawful.”
