The Department of Government Efficiency plans to change over 50 rules at the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, according to a Washington Post report. Robert Leider oversees the changes at ATF, with the goal of revising or cutting regulatory restrictions on firearms.
John Feinblatt criticized the changes, stating they may weaken the agency’s enforcement capabilities and reshape federal gun regulation enforcement going forward.
A spokesperson for the Justice Department defended the revisions, claiming they would reduce burdens for lawful gun owners while focusing on criminal enforcement.
