President Donald Trump said he is considering a fund to compensate the Jan. 6 rioters he pardoned for storming the Capitol in 2021, in an interview with Newsmax’s Greg Kelly. Trump stated, “I took care of them,” regarding his supporters who attempted to overturn the 2020 election loss.

A Washington Post-Ipsos poll revealed that over 80% of Americans oppose pardons for those convicted of violent crimes related to Jan. 6, 2021. Politico noted that Trump’s position suggests a possibility of taxpayers financing a compensation fund for Jan. 6 felons.
