New York City Mayor Eric Adams is shutting down rumors that he is considering taking a job with the Trump administration. “Serving New Yorkers as their mayor is the only job I ever wanted,” Adams said in a statement.

The news comes after President Donald Trump told reporters that he’d like “to see two people drop out and have it be one-on-one, and I think that’s a race that could be won.” Trump reportedly believes the two-person race should be between former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo and Queens Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani.

Meanwhile, Adams said he will stay in the race and said, “I am the only one that can beat Mamdani.” The mayor also called out Cuomo, calling him “a snake and a liar.”
