Evaluation of climate policy measures over two decades finds many have failed to achieve necessary emissions reductions

A new study from the outlet “Science” found that just 63 cases since 1998 ending up causing significant cuts to carbon pollution in the environment.

The study was co-authored by Nicolas Koch. Koch said “the key ingredient…is that you have pricing in the policy mix.”

The study also determined that any successful climate policies reduced emissions by 600 million to 1.8 million metric tons combined. However, despite the lowered emissions, the policies did not impact the increasing levels of carbon dioxide by much.
