Two former Politico reporters criticized the outlet for suppressing stories about Hunter Biden’s laptop, claiming it contributed to a false misinformation narrative about former President Joe Biden before the 2020 election. Journalist Marc Caputo said an editor killed his story about Hunter Biden’s work for Burisma Holdings during Joe Biden’s campaign.

Hunter Biden was convicted on three federal charges in June 2024 but received a pardon from his father on Dec. 1, 2024, for those charges and related tax issues.

Politico disputed the allegations, asserting that its journalists conducted extensive reporting on the Biden family’s business dealings.
